What's in a name?
Welcome to Davisville Post - your new resource for all things Davisville and Midtown, past and present.
'Post' refers back to a time when the corner stone (and corner store) of the neighbourhood was the J.J. Davis Store - a general store and post office. Named after John Davis, who came to Canada from England in 1840 when he was 27 years old, the store was built 54 years later in 1894 and operated by John's grandsons Jack and Charles. Though the signage has changed over the years (today it's our friendly neighbourhood Starbucks), the building's original form remains recognizable.
Today, 'post' may evoke more of a modern day vibe by describing this blog article, or some of the posts that you'll find on Davisville Post's Instagram account.
We hope you'll enjoy learning more about the neighbourhood where we live, and which we love!
